Film trailer and poster analysis

Film poster analysis:
One of the key conventions on this poster is the title (Django), which is bold and in red. Another convention is it has information about the director as it says its his new film and this shows that people familiar with this director might know what kind of genre it is and whether they would be interested in watching his latest film. it also features the stars on the cast. this is effect because it helps the audience know whether they would interested in that particular film as some actors play certain roles in the same genres of film. At the bottom centre it has the production blurb. It has a central image of the main character and secondary images including two other important characters. They are both holding guns which suggests it is a western also we can figure that out due to the style of clothing.behind it of two other men. it also has the release date at the bottom. At the top it has the tag line.

Film trailer analysis:
At the start of the trailer it has the website, therefore one convention in this is social media. Also it has the institution (sony pictures). it then has clips from the main sections of the film. throughout the trailer there is non-diegetic sound. Also there is diegetic sound coming from the characters. The music used sounds like western music which fits in the genre. This is effective for the audience understand what kind of film they will be watching. it has on screen text which mentions the director. There are a lot of close up shots used to introduce the characters and the narrative. At the end it has the release date.

In my opinion the poster and trailer do successfully promote the film because they explain the genre and give an insight to what the film will be like. They have also used many of the key conventions for the film.
